Meet Your 2025 Officers!
Andrew Foley is a graduate research student at The Ohio State University who has been with AFS since 2022! Andrew’s favorite fish is the red drum and he enjoys fishing from canoes! More specifically, Andrew enjoys fishing from canoes because he can navigate mangrove tidal creeks and shallow estuaries. Andrew wants everyone to know that he likes learning about new fisheries and meeting the people who rely on them.
Christian Bihun is a PhD candidate who has been associated with AFS since 2020. Christian’s favorite fish is sauger and one of his favorite activities is backcountry camping. A unique fact about Christian is that prior to graduate school, he was working at a remote walleye hatchery on Lake Manitoba!
Lauren Yancy is a Master’s Student at University of Alaska Fairbanks and also a Habitat Biologist with Alaska Department Fish and Game. She has been with AFS for 8 years and her favorite fish is the slimy sculpin. One of her favorite hobbies is being outside with anything water which includes: fishing, floating, hiking, and even road trips with water views. Something unique about Lauren is that she is the newly elected student representative for the AFS Alaska Chapter!
Andrew McMains is a PhD student who has worked with AFS for 6 years! His favorite fish is sheepshead and some of his favorite hobbies include fishing and working on old cars. Something unique about Andrew is that before his career in fisheries, he spent his summers working as a wildland firefighter in Wyoming!
Hadley Boehm is a Fisheries Research Supervisor for the Minnesota DNR. Hadley’s favorite fish is yellow perch and she has been involved in AFS since 2012. One of her favorite activities is teaching yoga to beginner and new students. Hadley wants everyone to know that prior to discovering fisheries as a career path, she did bird research as an undergraduate and wetland research for her first Master’s!
MeiLin Precourt is currently working as the SECP Western Division Representative and she has been with AFS for 7 years! MeiLin’s favorite fish is salmon and one of her favorite hobbies is surfing!
Heath Cook is currently a PhD student and he has been with AFS for 7 years. His favorite fish is any member of the family Sparidae (porgies)! Heath enjoys lots of beach activities (except sunbaking) and a unique fact about him is that he has a very well-stocked kitchen pantry.
Logan Zebro is currently a PhD student at South Dakota State University and he has worked with AFS for 6 years. His favorite fish is walleye (as seen clearly above) and one of his favorite hobbies is turkey hunting in the spring! Something unique about Logan is that he is actually left-handed.
Kelsey Crowley is a Master’s student at South Dakota State University and has worked with AFS for 1.5 years. Her favorite fish is the shovelnose sturgeon and one of her hobbies includes running and reading too many books! Something unique about Kelsey is that she owns pet frogs.

Matea Djokic is an early career professional who has been with AFS since 2018! Her favorite fish is the spotted boxfish and she has several favorite hobbies including: crafting, trail running, reading, and drinking tea. Something unique about Matea is that she makes fish-themed clothing!
Carrianne Pershyn is a non-profit research manager who has been with AFS for 8 years! One of her favorite fish is rainbow smelt and one of her hobbies is paddling! Something unique to know about Carrianne is that she has lived off-grid and grown most of her food.
