Student and ECP workshop on fisheries careers

The Student and Early Career Professionals Subsection is providing a virtual workshop titled, “Preparing future scientists of fisheries: how to become a more a-lure-ing candidate” at this year’s AFS Virtual Annual Meeting on Thursday, 17 Sept 2020. We need your help to gauge interest and participation by taking a survey linked below.

We understand the virtual format will alter participation from previous in-person annual meetings. Some benefits include, a more accessible meeting as there are no travel restrictions, less carbon emissions, and more time to view presentations because they will be available for 2-4 weeks to view at your own leisure. Of course we don’t have a good gauge for our membership interest level for a virtual platform.

To help us convert our in person workshop to a virtual panel with private rooms for CV/resume clinics and mock interviews, we created a survey to get a sense of how many of you are planning on attending the conference, who plans on participating in our workshop, and which career paths most interest you. Please fill out this survey, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/StudentEarlyCareer2020 so that we can ensure we have enough professionals to serve you and that your interests are represented. The survey will close Friday July 10, 2020.

This workshop will benefit both students and early career professionals, so we hope to see you “there”! Thank you for your time.
